Googling to the maximum

Last week I have attended interesting seminar about “googling to the maximum” so just thought of sharing some remarkable facts are given below.

Google allows upto 32 words to enter in the query box. When you conduct a search at Google, it searches for

Phrases : Google, by default, searches for phrase first.
Adjacency: Adjacency means how close your query terms are in the resulting webpages.
Weights. Google measures the number of times your keywords appear in the pages and gives them a score of Z.

Google has been indexing 14 file formats. PDF formatted files are the most popular after HTML files. PostScript and Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint files are also fairly common. The other file types are relatively uncommon by comparison.

·The search terms you enter and the order in which you enter them affect results
·In the Nested Search, terms are grouped within parentheses to specifiy the order in which they will be combined. While combining words within parentheses you can use either OR or |. The operators OR and I will return the same result.
·Google's Default Boolean operator is AND
·The tilde [~] operator looks for synonym of words in the query.
·The minus “ – ” operator excludes unwanted word in the resulting pages
·You can limit your search to URLs.
Example: [allinurl:elearning
